Tamenglong, November 10 2013:
Keinepou Panmei, Chairman of the Electricity Promotion Committee of Tousem Sub-Division has revealed that Tousem Sub- Division of Tamenglong District has been reeling under total black out for five months now due to sheer negligence of the concerned department responsible for the upkeep of the 33 KV power line.
Unhappy over the conduct of the concerned authorities, the Committee has warned of launching non-cooperation movement if the power supply is not re-installed on or before 20th November 2013.The Committee has also made it clear that the concerned department should be held responsible for any untoward incident during the course of non- cooperation movement.
Keinepou lamented that despite repeated complaints, the concerned department has give deaf ears to the cries and grievances of the people.
He recalled that on 3rd October 2012, P.Chidambaram, the then Union Home Minister, accompanied by Okram Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur and other elected representatives of the district and district government officials, inaugurated the 33/11 KV power sub- Station at Tousem HQ for the people of Tousem Sub- Division of Tamenglong district.
However, after lighting the sub- division for few months, the line has been cut off.
Since then no staff was seen working for re-installation of the power supply.
Keinepou further disclosed that villagers are being engaged for line clearance as no responsible officials or staffs of the department has been posted at Tousem HQs.
