Precaution must to prevent COVID-19: Govindas

Bishnupur, June 10 2021: Expressing concern over increasing COVID-19 positive cases and fatalities in Manipur, Bishnupur MLA and MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam has stated that our lives could not be saved if we fail to take utmost precaution to get rid of the virus.

Govindas stated this while inspecting COVID Care Centre, Bishnupur and COVID Care Centre 2 to be opened at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong.

He along with Bishnupur DC Krishnakumar, ADM H Bobby Sharma, SDO Mamuni, CMO Dr Gyaneshwar and health department staff inspected the site on Thursday.

Govindas appealed to each and every member of COVID Task Force to vaccinate against COVID-19 before rendering their service to the people.

He also said that no one wants to stay at Community Home Isolation Centre but shortage in health sector compelled the government to open such centres to prevent spread of the virus.

Govindas further stated that COVID-19 Vaccination Centre currently being opened at Bishnupur district hospital will be shifted to Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen very soon and discussion in this regard has been made with the DC and authority concerned.

Citing reason behind this, he said that people are reluctant to visit district hospital for treatment due to opening of vaccination centre and treatment centre for COVID-19 patients.

While assuring that every possible step will be initiated to fill up shortages at COVID Care Centre Bishnupur, Govindas said that Congress party will donate eight D-Type oxygen cylinders to the centre soon and principal secretary (health) will be approached for improvement of toilet facilities at the centre.
