Imphal, April 10 2024:
CAF&PD minister Leishangthem Susindro has appealed to the public to be aware of the double tongued Congress where it promises to provide ST status to the Meeteis in the valley while it campaigns in the hills with the assurance that Meeteis will not be given the ST status.
Addressing media persons at his Khurai Sajor Leikai residence, minister Susindro said that no matter how much the Congress clarifies over its election manifesto, the real agenda and intension of the Congress is clearly visible.
The Congress is campaigning in the hills with the assurance of providing separate administration while it woos the valley people that no separate administration will be given to any community.
Maintaining that there is no difference between the 'administrative settlement' mentioned in its manifesto with the 'separate administration', he appealed to the Congress not to destroy the integrity of Manipur through its double standard policy among the people of the hills and the valley.
While appealing to the Congress candidate Dr Bimol Akoijam not to consider all the people of Manipur as students, the minister said that looking at all people as students will ultimately lead to mistakes.
The Congress candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is campaigning with the promise that the Meeties will not be granted ST status while its Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency candidate is campaigning with the assurance that the party will relentlessly work for providing ST status to the Meeteis.
He further informed that the Anglo-Kuki War was given official recognition during the Congress rule on December 19, 2015.It was also during the Congress rule that the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with the Kuki militants was enforced with the help of the former Myanmar MP Thanglianpao Guite.
The present crisis which is being spearheaded by illegal immigrants from Myanmar, has been brought to the state by Thanglianpao Guite who is the leader of a Kuki militant group.
Since the Congress brought in Thanglianpao from Mynamar to Manipur, It will not be an exaggeration to say that the Congress enforced the SoO agreement to kill the Meeteis, he contended.
Stating that the fact that Congress and Kukis are going together has become clearer with the passing of each day, minister Susindro said that the serial number 5 of the Congress manifesto is the same as the statement made by the ITLF on June 15 and July 6, 2023 over the demand for a separate administration and the imposition of President's Rule.
Therefore, it is time the people of Manipur teach the double faced, double tongued Congress, he said.
