Thunderstorm lashes Singngat area

CCpur, May 09 2018:
A strong thunderstorm lashed several villages in Churachandpur's Singngat sub-division today afternoon, uprooting trees, houses and leaving a trail of destruction.
The storm accompanied with thunder, lightning and heavy rainfall was felt across the region but major destructions were reported from three villages located at the periphery of Singngat sub-divisional HQs.
At the town area, tree barks were torn and some makeshift sheds could be seen shattered but no major tragedy have been reported except for one at Saikot sub-divisional HQs.
The entire tin-roof of T Ginkhanpau, Saikot avengthar was lifted off along with its wooden frame and dumped at an adjacent paddy field.
The villages of Belpuan, Sumchinvum, Buhsau and Muallum reported varying degrees of destruction.
A kutcha structure Church and a guest house was reportedly destroyed at Buhsau along with several houses while at Sumchinvum, oversized trees were uprooted and few human settlement were left shattered, reports our correspondent.
There were reports about the storm leaving a trail of destruction at Belpuan, Muallum and Buhsau.
Power supplies to the district, that was snapped during the thunderstorm, have not been restored by the time of filing this report.
