Imphal, September 08 2022:
A written application seeking fertilizer has been allegedly tossed aside in a very rude manner.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, Mangjil Agro Farmer Producer Company (MAFPC) Ltd chairman Meitram Kesho said that they submitted an application to the Agriculture Department on July 6 seeking fertilizers.
As the application was left unaddressed for too long, some members of MAFPC Ltd met the Agriculture Minister on August 30 .
The Agriculture Minister then wrote a letter to the District Agriculture Officer, Imphal West.
Taking this letter to the Agriculture Director along with a application, members of MAFPC Ltd were struggling to obtain fertilizers for the last two/three days, Kesho said.
However, when some members of MAFPC Ltd met the Agriculture Director, he tossed aside the letter as well as the application saying that fertilizers could not be issued against paddy fields where paddy had been reaped.
Kesho said that MAFPC Ltd is a farmer-producer company sponsored by NABARD and promoted by KVK.
But the way the Agriculture Director insulted the MAFPC Ltd was akin to insulting the entire farmer community, he said.
