Joykisan suspects gang looting IMC fund

Imphal, June 08 2022: After IMC mayor revealed the real identity of GG Rongmei as corporator of IMC Ward No 1 Gaidon Gangmei Rongmei, Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan has said that there must be a bigger gang to siphon off IMC fund just like GG Rongmei did.

Addressing a press conference held at his Khoyathong residence on Wednesday, Kh Joykisan said that every citizen of the country including elected representatives/leaders are under the Constitution of the country and asked if corporators elected to look after rules and regulations of IMC could involve in contract works of the corporation.

The Supreme Court of India had numerous rulings regarding contract works by elected leaders but IMC enlisted GG Rongmei as a contractor, he pointed out, and asked if IMC had no official to verify GG Rongmei.

While terming siphoning off ef huge IMC fund by GG Rongmei as a big scandal, Kh Joykisan said that GG Rongmei alone could not do such work and hence there must be a bigger gang looting IMC fund.

He then urged Manipur government to investigate thoroughly on the matter by removing the acting mayor and corporators for some time so as to bring out truth about the scandal.

The enquiry committee formed to investigate the scandal in IMC would not bring justice as all the members of the committee are from IMC only and its report would not be true, Joykisan said and offered to extend help and provide evidences in bringing out truth about the scandal.

The press conference was also attended by TAKDO president Khulem Nobo and TAKDO Tribal Forum advisor Denilung Malangmei and both of them called for teaching a befitting lesson and awarding stringent punishment to elected leaders who siphon off public money for personal gains.
