Imphal, April 08 2013:
With the State Government failing to solve the numerous problems and issues confronting the State today, opposition political parties in the State have decided to launch intense agitations against the Government.
A meeting of 11 opposition political parties was convened at Irabot Bhawan today afternoon during which various issues including the killing of Ningombam Satyabhama and privatization of health sectors were minutely discussed and resolved to take up intense agitations against the ruling government in this regard.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting on behalf of the 11 opposition political parties, Dr M Nara, State Secretary of CPI, stated that the opposition political parties could no longer remain silence over the negligence attitude of the ruling Government over the issues confronting Manipur and its people today.
So, the joint meeting was convened to discuss ways and means for finding solution to the problems afflicting the State today.
He said that 11 opposition political parties strongly condemned the brutal killing of Ningombam Satyabhama and the failure of the State Government to trace the culprits clearly indicates that there are a number of loopholes in the administrative set up of the Government machineries.
Questions are being raised over the ability of the State Government to safeguard the life and property of the general public.
The silent attitude of the State Government over such issues is unfortunate and the government should put in their heart and soul to solve these issues, Dr Nara said.
On the decision of the Government to privatise health sector through the PPP model, Dr M Nara stated that the 11 opposition parties of the State cannot comply with the decision of the State Cabinet in this regard.
The decision of the State Cabinet should be revoked at the earliest possible.
As a part of the agitation to be spearheaded by the 11 opposition parties, a public meeting along with a rally would be held at Patsoi on April 16, he disclosed.
