Youth Wing DPUVO holds press meet on drug abuse

Youth Wing of Development and Protection United Voluntary Organisation (DPUVO) held a press meet at its Nambol office today in connection with its ongoing antidrug abuse campaign underway since March 28 to curb the menace of drug abuse in Nambol circle.
President of the Youth Wing Thounaojam Mangoljao Meitei said that the organisation has so far identified about 350 drug addicts aged between 14 and 40 years.
So far 150 drug addicts have been handed over to their families after proper counselling, he said.
The organisation has helped 15 drug addicts rehabilitate in different rehabilitation centres, he said.
The organisation also expressed its concern over the 'increasing' numbers of girls indulging in drugs.
Most of them are students and they uses drugs because they think it is fashionable, said Mangoljao.
DPUVO president T Khamba Khuman, working president Konsam Suleshwor and Youth Wing advisor T Lamyainganba Luwang also attended the press meet.
