WLCA condemns insult to ADC poll candidate

Western Lamkhang Chiefs Association (WLCA) strongly condemned the physical assault on Indipendent Candidate of ADC election of 10 Aihang Constituency 41 A/C, Chandel Daniel by the team 22 Assam Rifles posted at Waikhong and Pangantabi on May 28 night.
In a joint statement issued by WLCA President SK Shelnung and General Secretary SN Peter, Daniel was detained for an hour at Waikhong by the team led by Major S Singh frisked and checked his vehicles mess it up all his election documents, poster, bags files and other documents in the board.
Soon after checking at Waikhong the candidate left for his village and again the 22 AR team stopped and starteed again his vehicle after he had identified himself as an independent candidate of ADC election but the AR Jawans still kept on checking and one soldier who was said to be a local Jawan started punching him, slapping him and even trying to shoot him by his rifle gun without any reason, they alleged.
The Chiefs Association was unhappy with the role of the State Election Commission and the State Government for not taking necessary action against the AR Personnel and attitude towards the Lamkhang Community.
They threatened that if the responsible authority fails to take necessary actions against the culprits before the counting votes of ADC election various forms of agitations has compel to take up.
WLCA also demanded all the Jawans who conducted frisking at Waikhong and Kakching Khunou Lamkhai including Commander Major S Singh should be given penalty under Court Marshall and transferred their outpost in the area.
