Railway worker killed in truck mishap

Imphal, September 06 2012:
A worker of Northeast Frontier Railway was killed after the truck he was traveling in plunged into a gorge at Kambiron under Nungba Police Station in Tamenglong district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The victim, a non-Manipuri has been identified as Manoj Gwala, 19, son of Madan Gwala, hailing from Assam's Lakhipur district.
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m.when a Tata IVA dipper truck with five workers including Manoj on board skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge, injuring him critically.
Reports said the other passengers including the driver jumped off the truck and escaped the fatal accident.
The truck met the accident on its way from tunnel number 7 of NF Railway to a makeshift camp where the labourers have been staying.
Manoj was first rushed to Nungba Primary Health Centre but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal.
