Imphal, August 06 2015:
Condemning the State Government's silence on the recent peace accord signed between Indian Government and NSCN(I), titular king of Manipur,Leishemba Sanajaoba on Wednesday urged the state forces not to take the people as their enemies.
State forces should not equate current unrest situation in Manipur with war and they should stop thinking people as their own enemies, said Sanajaoba in a sit-in-protest organised by Konung Leikai Meira Paibi, Mahabali Kabui Khun and Nupi Samaj on Wednesday at palace gate.
It is unfortunate that Chief Minister and Manipur Government have been continuously avoiding people's demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state.
The incident of yanking a minor girl student's hair during an agitation on Monday only shows the true character of state police.
People's demand of an ILPS is also for them, said Sanajaoba.
The titular king also attacked the State Government on the recent peace accord signed between Indian Government and NSCN(IM).
The Manipur government was kept in the dark about the details and till date the government and the people do not know of it.
Instead of saying Centre had not informed them, state authorities should immediately visit Delhi and inquire about the terms of the accord.
Secretary of Nupi Samaj, Ramani Leima said that people's demand of an ILP system in the state started since 1972.In these years, ten Chief Ministers had already ruled the state while some of them came back time to time to power.
But people's demand has, since then, continues to fall on deaf ears while government authorities failed to realize that the demand of an ILP system is also for them.
Highly educated persons have been holding high posts in many government departments, but whether they ever have done any good things for the Manipuri society is questionable, said the Secretary.
Condemning the state personnel who pulled the hair of a minor girl student, the Secretary demanded punishment and asked why the male personnel were deployed when there are more than enough women personnel in the state.
Meanwhile, people of Nambol Maibam Chingmang on Thursday staged a sit-in-protest at waiting shed of Nambol Maibam Chingmang.
Similar sit-in-protests were staged at Sagolband Moirang Leirak, Sagolband Salam Leikai.
Soibam LeikaiMeira Paibi Chaokhat Khongthang Lup and Khurai Ahongei Thangjam Leikai Apunba Kanglup also blocked road of JNIMS on Wednesday and staged sit-i-protest.
