Fish fingerlings distributed to flood-hit farmers

Imphal, December 05 2024:
The Department of Fishery in collaboration with the ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, Odisha distributed lakhs of fish fingerlings to the flood-affected fish farmers of the state on Thursday at the office complex of the Directorate of Fisheries, Lamphelpat, under the ICAR-CIFA NEH Outreach Programme.
Fisheries director Heisnam Balkrisna Singh along with the Directorate officials distributed 'Pengba' and Indian major carp fingerlings to about 200 flood-hit fish farmers of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching districts.
Speaking on the outreach programme, the director expressed profound gratitude to ICAR-CIFA director Dr PK Sahoo and principal scientist Dr Subhendu Adhikari, for providing assistance and support to the flood affected fish farmers of Manipur for revival of their economic activities and enhancement of fish production.
