Centre deputes expert team to State

Imphal, August 04 2021:
As a follow-up of the meeting that took place between chief minister N Biren Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's official residence in New Delhi, the Centre has deputed a multi-disciplinary Central team to aid the health department in management of COVID-19 in the state.
The central team comprises senior doctors namely RoHFW, Manipur senior regional director Dr L Ashananda, NCDC deputy director Dr Rameshwar and consultant microbiologist and nodal officer for Manipur Dr Smita Singhal.
All institutional heads have been advised to relieve the team members with immediate effect.
The team will specifically look into areas of testing including genomic sequencing for SARS-CoV 2 variants, contact tracing including surveillance and containment operations, adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour, availability of hospital beds, sufficient logistics including ambulance and hospital wise case fatality analysis and COVID-19 vaccination progress.
Further, the expert team will assess, suggest remedial actions and report every day at 7pm on public health activities being undertaken to coron [email protected] besides submitting the same to state government.
