Speaking to media persons, Sikhong Sekmai Municipal Council, ward no 3 Councillor, A Chandramani said that the road has been in such deplorable condition for more than 15 years and the repairing work which took place a year ago did not last long.
He said the road has become even more pathetic and it has caused immense hardships to the people, especially the sick and pregnant women.
A specific area near Yairipok Keithel is the worst affected, he asserted.
The locals have even met with the Chief Minister on Meeyamgi Numit last month and also sought repairing work of the said road but no work has been taken up till date.
Considering the inconveniences and hardships while commuting, Chandramani urged the authority concerned to take necessary steps and repair the said road at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Nongpok Ningthou Magic Association secretary N Ashatomba stated that the associations have decided to launch no steering protest from today and will continue the protest until the authority concerns gives a positive response and take up the repairing work immediately.
