Shakti and SEED observe 'National Science Day'

Society for Environmental Education and Development (SEED) and Shakti, an organisation that is working for empowerment of women through science and technology application organised a lecture programme as a part of National Science Day on February 28.Prof JK Garg, scientist (retd), Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO, delivered the main lecture on 'Remote sensing and GIS technology with its applications on wetland management' .
He also covered the science of wetlands and job prospects on this.

(STIP, 2020) .
The lectures in the programme included 'Why we should study Mathematics' by Prof Okram Ratnabala Devi, Manipur University; 'Arrow Head, a potential crop for boosting income of marshylands farmer' by Prof L Navachandra, Central Agricultural University; 'How science and technology will revolutionised 21 st century' by Prof N Rajmohan Singh, Manipur University; 'pandemic Covid-19, an overview and women scientists in the fight' by Prof Kh Sulochana Devi, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences; 'Freshwater and fish diversity of Manipur' by Prof W Vishwanath, Manipur University and 'Principles of Microscopy' by Prof M Shamkesho Singh, Manipur University.
Subalakshmi Shijagurumayum of Life Sciences Department, Manipur University was also selected to participate at the National level elocution competition at the 'Nationwide congregation of girl students' organised by Shakti to discuss STIP, 2020 and its future.
