CM calls for concerted efforts to bring collective growth

Like in other parts of the country, the State Government also observed the National Re-dedication Day in remembrance of death anniversary of the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat here today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy CM Gaikhangam graced the occasion as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Ibobi said that late Indira Gandhi was sworn in as the first Prime Minister of India on January 24, 1966 while asserting that the leader was known for taking quick decisive stand at the time of emergency faced by the country.
The CM conceded that Indira Gandhi is still counted as one of the influential leaders throughout the world and called upon the people to follow the path adopted by the leader to bring unity and collective growth in the State.
Recalling that the late Prime Minister had nationalized banks as an effective economic policy in the year 1969 which proved successful, Ibobi added that the great leader had played an important role in maintaining bilateral relationship with other countries.
Dy CM Gaikhangam said that the National Re-dedication Day is regarded as purest day for the country and called upon the people to put in concerted efforts to materialize dreams of the late leader.
The observance function was also attended by Council of Ministers; Parliamentary Secretaries; DGP and officials of civil and police.
The National Re-dedication Day was also observed by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at Congress Bhavan wherein CM and Dy CM led in offering floral tributes to photo of the late Prime Minister as a mark of respect.
Several Ministers; MLAs; members of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress and Congress Mahila Mandal including Congress workers were also present at the occasion.
