Pradhan shot at; another attacked

Imphal, August 31 2014: Pradhan of Sawombung Gram Panchayat, Yourabung Khunou under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East has been hospitalized after he was shot at by unidentified miscreants on August 30 around 7.30 pm.

The injured Pradhan has been identified as Sandham Ibomcha (44) of Yourabung Khunou.

A bullet that hit on his right cheek penetrated through its left side.

He is undergoing treatment in Raj Medicity, North AOC.

According to family members, Ibomcha was taking rest after returning from office when three unidentified persons coming in a Honda Active scooter called him out from the house on the pretext of having some talk and shot him on his cheek.

They said that the attack was a shocker as Ibomcha has impeccable records in the locality and no monetary demand has been served by any underground outfit to the family so far.

Meanwhile, condemning the deadly attack on the Pradhan, Yourabung Village Development Committee staged a sit-in-protest in front of Yourabung Khunou Veterinary Office today.

On the other hand, unidentified persons coming in a Maruti van fired three/four bullet rounds at the residence of one Naoroijam (o) Anita, Pradhan of Uchekon Nongchup Gram Panchayat under Irilbung PS on August 30 at around 10.30 pm.
