Chandel, February 28 2018:
The Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) and the JAC of PMEGP 2016-17 have warned to launched a total shutdown in Chandel district on March 4 following the failure of the authority concerned to provide a positive response regarding pending issues of the PMEGP 2016-17 interview.
A joint press release issued by vice president of NSUC and convenor of JAC stated that a meeting was held with General Manager of DIC Chandel, the Naga Women Union Chandel (NWUC) and the JAC at DC Chandel chamber but no positive conclusion was reached during the meeting.
It stated that a joint representation was submitted by the JAC along with three civil body organisations of Chandel, namely CNPO, NSUC and NWUC, appealing to halt the currently undergoing PMEGP fresh interview 2017-2018 until and unless the pending case of selected beneficiaries 2016-2017 is solved.
Acting against the demand of the JAC and the civil organisation, the DC/Chairman (District Level Task Force Committee of PMEGP) and the general manager of DIC conducted the interview with tense security measures, it added.
Regarding the pending matter of the PMEGP 2016-2017 selected beneficiaries, several memorandums have submitted to the authorities concerned but they continue to turn a blind ear to the demand of the JAC and civil organisations, it said.
