CM cautions against misuse of social media

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday laid the foundation stone for construction of Manipur State Haj House at Usoipokpi, Lilong under Thoubal district.
Speaking at the event, CM Biren recalled announcement made in year 2018 about importance for existence of Haj House in the state.
The House would be of multi-utility for the Muslim communities, provide accommodation and impart training for the Haj Pilgrimage, he said.
While assuring to instruct the implementing agency to complete the Haj House within one year, he said the government is also expediting building construction of the Ima market at Lilong for inauguration by the Prime Minister when he visits Manipur on January 4, 2022 .
He further stated that decency must be maintained by one and all while using social media, abstain from uploading comments which might hurt others' morale and image.
Government has set up Cyber Crime Special Unit and those who are found misusing social media will be booked promptly under the law, the CM cautioned.
"Government has decided to pay Rs 30,000 per month as honorarium to the chairman of Haj Committee.
The cabinet will also take up for discussion of payment of 7th pay to WAKF board staff, Minority Commission staff and reservation in Higher Education," said the CM and added that government is considering to impart Skill Development training in Meitei-Pangal areas.
He also urged the youth to wake up and stand against drugs and make Lilong a totally drug-free area.
While mooting for village-wise/house-wise survey to identify economically backward families so that government may be able to extend need-based support in uplifting those underprivileged, he appealed to the gathering to live together for a developed and prosperous society.
In his speech at the event, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba said that Meitei-Pangal brothers settling in Manipur are different from other Muslim community settling in different parts of the world as they have unique identity.
Though they follow Islam religion, Meitei-Pangal brothers not only have blood relation with Meitei but also have similar culture and costumes.
However, no governments in the past ever thought of constructing a Haj House for the community and this indeed was very unfortunate, he said, adding that the present BJP led government has made all the preparations for construction of a Haj House.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was organised by Minority Affairs department.
The Haj House will be constructed under the scheme for Special Assistance to state for Capital Expenditure during 2021-22 with a project cost of Rs 10 crore.
Mention may be made that the land for construction of Haj House was donated by Hafiz Quary Quayamuddin.
The ceremony was also attended by Lilong MLA Y Antas Khan, MSMC chairman Anwar Hussain, WAKF Board Manipur chairman Md Abdul Nasir, Haj Committee chairman MV Abdul Salam, Khurai MLA L Susindro and former speaker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh.
