Imphal, December 31 2017: 5 JAK RIF of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) in association with Disabled Welfare Development Association (DWDA) organised an event for upliftment of the physically challenged, HIV positive and children Below Poverty Line (BPL) wherein they were distributed with gifts and sweets on the occasion of New Year, said a press release from PRO IGAR (South) .

The programme was attended by Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam Singh as chief guest; Laishram Shachirani Devi, ex-Principal, Ch Ibohal Institute for Mentally Challenged; proprietor, Imphal Free Press and Patsoi Company Operating Base Commander Major Rishabh Singh.

Gifts and essential items were also distributed to the children.

The effort of the Army/Assam Rifles in supporting the physically challenged individuals was lauded and deeply appreciated by the locals.

The participants were encouraged to help facilitate the upliftment of HIV positive individuals and those who are Below Poverty Line, it said.
