Imphal, August 30 2021:
KANGLAMEI, KIL and CLK in a joint statement, appealed all private banks to immediately stopped 'forceful" collection of interest from women vendors who have been facing a tough time to recover from the prolonged lockdown and restrictions induced by the Covid pandemic in the State.
The associations said that it has come to learn that some private banking institutes have started collecting interest from women street vendors when the State Government has not even allowed full opening of markets as the Covid threat persists.
Collection of interests and other dues from these women vendors should be stopped at the earliest considering the situation they are currently facing, it said.
