Loanees urge Govt for relief

Loanees facing the brunt of the ongoing conflict between communities and natural calamities have sought the Government and authorities concerned to waive off interests on loans.
This appeal was made by loanees during a meeting at Keirenphabi community hall in Bishnupur district today.
Tongbram Jiten, a loanee who took part in the meeting said all individuals doing marginal and small businesses including farmers are struggling to repay loans as their businesses have been hurt by floods and the ongoing conflict.
Due to the conflict, there is a shortage of raw materials.
Poultry, fisheries, piggery and other farms have been affected, and farmers are unable to earn enough to repay loans, he said.
The meeting later took several resolutions including an appeal to the Government and RBI to extend the September 20 deadline for submitting documents to financial institutes to October 30 .
The meeting also resolved to appeal to the Chief Minister and authorities concerned to waive off interests on their loans.
