NPO to enforce driving curbs from Dec 2

Senapati, November 28 2024: The Naga People's Organisation (NPO) has announced the enforcement of driving restrictions on Naga, Meitei Pangal, Nepali and non local drivers from December 2 .

This decision comes in response to com plaints from the Drivers' Union regarding repeated incidents of harassment along the National Highway.

In a press release issued by the convenor of NPO's Grievances Cell, the organisation expressed concern over the persistence of issues such as harassment, extortion, and illegal taxation, despite prior engagements with community organisations and the signing of an MoU with the state government.

The NPO added that the restrictions are intended to safeguard the rights and safety of drivers and com muters while ensuring the smooth transportation of essential commodities to the state capital.
