Imphal, July 28 2019:
Imphal-Jiribam highway which was cut off due to a landslide which occurred at Tintong Laijang (T Laijang) village, about 3 Kms away from Kotlen yesterday has been restored after the debris and rubble have been removed by NHIDCL and HVS.
Subsequently, vehicles stranded on either side of T Laijang have started moving.
On the other hand, a team of Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) led by its president H Ranjit visited the landslide spot today together with a team of media persons.
Ranjit said that a truck carrying tiles from Guwahati to Imphal along Imphal-Jiribam highway was partially damaged as it came across the landslide on July 26 at T Laijang.
He said that there is an urgent need to construct a drain near the spot struck by landslide and the same spot is vulnerable to more severe landslides.
He then urged NHIDCL to construct a drain at T Laijang and adjoining areas along the highway so as to avert more landslides.
