Imphal, August 27 2013:
The 6th round of tripartite talk involving the Government of India, Govemment of Manipur and the United Naga Council (UNC) on the latter's demand for an Alternative Arrangement for the Nagas of Manipur outside the Government of Manipur pending a settlement of the Indo-Naga issue would be held on August 30 at Delhi, said UNC president L Adani.
Adani was speaking at the 65th anniversary of Martyrs' Day organised by the Mao Council at Mao Gate under the aegis of UNC today.
The martyrs day was observed in memory of A Daiho, N Modoli, Kaikho Dili and Athikho Sibo who reportedly pioneered the Naga integration movement and were arrested by the Government and put in Imphal Central Jail before being transferred to Dum Dum (now Kolkata) Central Jail as political prisoners.
Among others, the function was attended by UNC ex-president S Remei, CNPO president Gadriel Chini, NPO president LM Markson and ZYF president Titus Kamei.
Addressing the gathering, UNC president L Adani reminded that the Nagas of Manipur as decided in Naga People's convention on July 1, 2010 declared to sever all political ties with the Government of Manipur.
The convention also demanded an Alternative Arrangement pending settlement of the Indo-Naga issue because the Nagas of Manipur cannot live with dignity and honour, and protect their rights to life and property, identity, land, resources, traditional institutions and customary practices under the Government of Manipur.
The movement for securing an Alternative Arrangement outside the Government of Manipur has been registered in history with the process of tripartite talk of the Government of India, Government of Manipur and the Nagas in Manipur and the next round (6th) round would be held on August 30 at Delhi, Adani said.
He also called upon all the Nagas of Manipur to be prepared for what could unfold in the days to come depending on the response of the Government of India in taking forward the process of dialogue for Alternative Arrangement.
"The Naga boat, UNC boat must not be rocked and endangered.
It must not be allowed to spin into confusion.
Everyone on board must row together in tandem, in unison towards the logical and defined direction of our political aspiration", Adani exhorted the people.
