Development photos charm Leimakhong residents

In what could be termed as an initiative to disseminate information at the grassroots level, a five-day Photo Exhibition of the theme 'Development Initiatives in the North East' kick-off today at Leimakhong Community Hall, Sadar Hills, Manipur.
The exhibition which would continue till November 29 is being organized by the Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal with lthe help of Leimakhong Bazar Authority.
Speaking at the inauguration programme as Chief Guest, which was attended by elected representatives, village elders, social workers, teachers.
Development photos charm Leimakhong residents and students, Colonel KJS Rathore, Staff Officer, Headquaters, 57 Mountsain Division calls upon the peope of Leimakhong area to seize the opportunity of knowing various development schemes undertaken by the Government of India through this photo exhibition.
Emphasising that the development of North East is the development of the nation as a whole, the Army officer told the gathering about the photos being a strong medium of communication.
Col Rathore also exhorted the public as well as students to visit the five-day photo exhibition to have as better undertstanding of the policies and programmes of the Central Government.
Impressed by the collection of photos, the Army officer, on behalf of the GOC, 57 Mountain Division conveys his felicitations and best wishes for the program on 'Devewlopment Initiatives in North East' undertaken to spread awareness amongst the peope of Leimakhong about the various schemes launched by the Government of India for the development of North East.
"Its good to know that this type of government programme is being organized at Leimakhong", said SL Paokhosei, Ex-Minister, who graced the function as Guest of Honour.
He also encouraged the villagers to visit the photo exhibition in order to learn various aspects relating to North East.
'The photo exhibition has forecast the development activities of the Central Government in the North East', said the Ex-Minister.
Seilun Khongsai, MDC, Sadar Hills ADCC, who attended the programme as Functional President said that the 'Photo Exhibition will paves way for future development of the North East' .
Keeping up the spirit of the exhibition, Paominlun Singson, Principal, Omega English School, Leimakhong said that 'It is good to see and know about the culture and development of North East through this Photo Exhibition'.
For the student community such as Herish Senjam, the collection of photos taught him the conditions of North East and gives him new knowledge about the region.
'I realize that the government of India is providing our needs', noted Lunminlal Khongsai, a tenth-grader of Omega English School, Leimakhong, who visited the photo exhibition.
Highlighting the objectives of the exhibition, Gin Gangte, IIS, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Imphal said that the photo exhibition is organized to disseminate information about the pace of various developmental projects initiated by the government in the North East.
The Field Exhibition Officer also appeals to the public to visit the photo exhibition so as to have a better understanding of the activities of the Government of India.
For the people of Leimakhong, which is but a 'city village' in itself, which is inhabited by the Armed Forces and civilians with different ethnic background, the photo exhibition is yet another ideal platform to showcase the dreams and aspirations of the people.
