During a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee (Science & Technology, Environment & Forest) today, Manipur Inner MP Dr RK Ranjan brought up a joint initiative proposal in collaboration with the local NGOs and corporates of the State, to turn the plastic wastes and residues from the railway project in the State to create paver bricks.
He also urged the Committee to conduct necessary review for developing the works concerned with medicinal plants, horticultural, microbial and animal resources at ISBD Takyel.
The MP also proposed the setting up of Richard Dixon Oldham Institute of Eastern Himalayan region in Manipur for studying the seismicity of the Himalaya and North East India and the nature of the continents, tectonics of the region.
Dr RK Ranjan further proposed the Standing Committee to open a space museum in the region to exhibit models of Indian launch vehicles, orbiter spacecraft like Aryabhata, Bhaskara, Rohini, Chandrayaan and a model of the International Space Station (ISS) and ecological monitoring observatory centre so as to encourage the young minds to explore space science and technology.
