Imphal, August 25 2011:
UNLF Chairman RK Sanayaima (Meghen) who is in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today said that India has been planning to instill communal ill feelings in the state and it is their age old theory to prevent development strategies in the state.
Speaking to media persons in the Special Court Complex of NIA, Sanayaima said that the Government of India has been instigating the different communities of the country especially in the North East against one another.
He also appealed to the people of different communities residing in both the hills and valley of Manipur to lead a peaceful life based on peaceful coexistence.
He further said that the boundaries of the districts of the state have not been changed since they were demarcated during the British rule.
Instead of depending on the NH 39 and 37, he appealed to the people of the state to put collective efforts to make the state a self sustainable state by increasing the income and developing economy.
Even after 65 years under the Indian constitution, Manipur has not witnessed a single image of development.
People elected qualified representatives for a peaceful Manipur.
Unfortunately such representatives after getting the chair provided by the centre forget their commitment towards the people of the state, he said.
On the other hand, the Loktak Project which was established after promising to electrify Manipur has become a fake promise.
Appealing for a peaceful co-existence, he urged the people of the state to face the communal instigations instilled by the Government of India and its machineries.
Meanwhile, Centre has asked the Guwahati Central Jail to transfer three leaders of UNLF to Tihar Jail, a reliable source stated.
Although the request was made two months before, there is no such provision to shift the UNLF leaders to Tihar Jail.
According to an advocate, the request of the Centre is likely to be deferred since some leaders have already made processes to seek bail and plea of transferring their cases to Gauhati High Court.
