PREPAK to mark '35th Red Army Day'

The 35th uprising day of the 'Red Army,' the armed wing of the banned People's Revolutionary Army (PREPAK) will be celebrated tomorrow (March 26) at its CHQ, GHQ, tactical HQ, unit head quarters, base areas, transit camps and training centre, the outfit has said on Wednesday.
"We beg to the people to infuse the avowal of no retreat stand to all the soldiers of Red Army and to encourage them in their unbroken fighting for the ultimate goal," said a statement of Leibak Ngakpa Luwang, assistant secretary, publicity & propaganda, PREPAK.
It recounted that PREPAK and its armed wing Red Army was set up on October 9, 1977 based on sacrifice that aimed at struggling for the freedom and bringing a society where equality prevails.
PREPAK summoned up the incident of September 22, 1979 wherein seven Red Army cadres led by former leader of the outfit Ningthemcha Tulachandra attacked Moirang Police Station and killed one police sub-inspector and two constables and seized huge cache of arms and ammunition including 17 rifles.
It said the outfit seized a Village Volunteers Force (VVF) camp at Lamlai Khunou and snatched 17 rifles along with 600 ammos on February 27, 1980 and further recalled that it launched another attack on a CRPF party led by Commandant Mishra and eliminated one Havildar and wounded two constables of the paramilitary force near erstwhile Women Hospital which was later renamed as District Hospital in Khwairamband Keithel on March 26, 1980.One stand gun and one three note three rifle were seized from the CRPF team, it added.
