'More funds required to make SBA successful'

As part of the special drive to reach out to the people, a one-day special outreach programme on Swachh Survekshan was organised at Khurai Lamlong Bazar today by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Imphal Unit in collaboration with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt of India.
Inaugurating the programme, Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, MLA of Khurai Assembly Constituency asserted that more funding from the Government is required to make Swachh Bharat Mission a grand success.
He said that there is only one public toilet at Khurai Lamlong Bazar while the number of people thronging the market on a daily basis is huge.
He urged the Government to increase the number of dumping bins placed in the market and requested the people to dispose waste at proper places.
Speaking at the occasion as the main resource person, Thoudam Rabindra, Assistant Municipal Commissioner said that Swachh Survekshan is a survey being conducted by the Government to check the cleanliness in towns and cities.
Informing that Manipur stood at 122nd rank in the 2017 Swachh Survekshan survey, he urged the people to download the app on Swachh Survekshan and take active participation in making Manipur a cleaner place.
In his presidential speech, SK Malviya, Additional Director General (Region), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting emphasised the role of media in bringing out behavioural change amongst the people.
People's participation and behavioural change is very important to make any intiative of the Government successful, he added.
Song & Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, enthralled the audience with their performances on Gujarati Dandiya Dance and various songs.
To mark the occasion, a rally on Swachhta Abhiyan was flagged off by MLA Susindro.
