Joint team to probe the killing of Dwijamani

Imphal, December 23 2012:
Members of Manipur media fraternity under the aegis of All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) today took up the case of killing journalist Dwijamani in police firing while on duty with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh late this afternoon.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister and the media fraternity signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), according to which a three-member team would investigate into the killing.
AMWJU president A Mobi, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) L Khaute and Principal Secretary, Home Department Mr Suresh Babu are the members of the investigation team.
Another point in the MoU is to extend help from the government side to the late journalist's family who left behind his wife and two children.
The third point is to frame a policy for the media persons while working in this type of tense situation.
The investigation team would be submitting its report within a week's time.
If need be, the period of investigation can be extended.
