Yet another UNC bandh in 'Naga areas' from today

Imphal, July 23 2014:
Protesting against the imposition of 144 Cr Pc and reinforcement of state security forces in Ukhrul district headquarters, and failure of the government of India to intervene in the matter even after dispatch of a memorandum to the prime minister on July 18 last, United Naga Council (UNC) has announced to impose yet another 48-hour Bandh on National Highways in Naga areas beginning from midnight of July 24 .
In its memorandum to the prime minister on July 18, UNC demanded revocation of the 144 Cr PC, removal of the Manipur state forces from Naga areas and for ensuring that the GoM observe the ground rules of the Cease-Fire in letter and spirit within 5 days.
As no development has been observed from the Government of India till date, the UNC will go ahead with the Bandh on NH 2, NH 37 and NH 150 with effect from the midnight of July 24, the statement announced, and added that educational institutions, medical, power and water supply, postal service will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
