AR nabs UG cadre, OGW, seizes weapons

Imphal, July 23 2011: Troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) apprehended one PULF cadre from Phoudel Mayai Leikai at around 8:05 pm July 22.He was identified as Md Anwar alias Subash (41) son of Md Hamid of Yairipok.

He was handed over to Thoubal Police Station.

In another incident, troops of 43 Assam Rifles and 23 Assam Rifle of Red Shield Division in a joint operation apprehended an OGW of UNLF at around 4 AM from Sagolmang on July 22 .

The apprehended OGW was identified as Khuleibam Abbas Khan (23) son of Khuleibam Kayamuddin of Uyumpak Pangaltabi village.

During interrogation he revealed that he was working for SS Major Hemanta @ Amuba of UNLF and was also involved in smuggling and selling of arms.

He was handed over to Lamlai Police Statioin.

In yet another incident, troops of 39 Assam Rifles under 27 Sector Assam Rifles of Red Shield Division apprehended one ex-ZDV member along with two pistols on Jul 21 from Lungjang area.

He was identified Mr Pausuanthang (43) son of Mr Khaihenthang of Lungjang village.

He regularly visits Myanmar on regular basis in the garb of trade.

He was also apprehended by the Junta and put in jail for four months in 2010 and was later released through diplomatic channel via Moreh.

Thereafter, he worked for ZDV for some time but quit the organization about five months back.

The individual was carrying out extortion by threatening the villagers of the area.

He was later handed over to the Churachandpur police station along with the seized arms.
