Transporters' JAC formed to save abducted bus driver

Imphal, June 23 2014:
In connection with the incident of abducting bus driver Thokchom Ingobi by KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) group, a joint action committee (JAC) has been formed during a joint meeting of bus owners, staff manning ticket counters and drivers convened by All Manipur Night Super Drivers Welfare Association here today.
During the meeting, it was decided that the services of the transporters ferrying passengers from Imphal to other parts of Northeast cities would not be resumed until the abducted driver is released.
With the Government authorities and the abductors not heeding to the public demand for ensuring safe release of the abducted driver, the meeting also entrusted the JAC with the full responsibility of rescuing the abducted driver from the clutches of his abductors.
It may be noted here that whereabouts of Thokchom Ingobi (35) /o Nimai of Khongjom Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district who drove luxury bus bearing registration number MN 01-1785 has not been known after he was whisked away by some armed cadres who identified themselves as members of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) group from a hotel at Jakhalabanda in Assam on June 13 night.
In addition to halting the daily passenger bus buses between Imphal and other parts of the Northeast since June 19, various protest demonstrations have been witnessed to demand safe release of the abducted driver.
