Abduction bid foiled, woman with gun caught

Imphal, June 23 2013: A woman, who was among four persons coming to abduct the Pradhan of Langathel Gram Panchayat but left with the younger brother of the Pradhan, has been rounded up by the locals.

A gun was also recovered from the possession of the woman and the younger brother of the Pradhan subsequently saved from the clutches of the abductors.

According to information culled from the site of the incident, four persons including the woman came to the house of Mohamud Roshan late in the evening yesterday.

On not finding the Pradhan at home, they took his younger brother Amir Khan and left.

However, the infuriated locals chased after the abductors and managed to save Amir Khan.

Out of the four persons involved in the abduction, the woman was also caught while the other three managed to escape.

The woman identified as Chanchan (25) of Kwatha village was found with one 9mm Pistol in her possession.

The woman was later handed over to Kakching Police by personnel of 15 AR stationed at Phundrei after she was taken over from the custody of the locals.
