Imphal, December 22 2019: A two-day workshop on 'Packaging of Organic Produces of Manipur' kicked off at the training hall of the Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong today.

The workshop organised by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Department of Agriculture, Manipur was attended by M Joy Singh, Commissioner (Agriculture), Kh Sayakiran Devi, Director Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation and M Harekrishna, Commissioner (Hort & SC).

At the event, M Joy said that the workshop was organised considering the importance of right packaging of organic produces.

Packaging should meet the standard required for farms/firms toexport the produces, he said adding that the workshop aims at imparting knowledge about packaging with the use of minimum required technology available.

M Harekrishna said that the workshop aims at promoting entrepreneurship among the farmers by diffusing the skills and know how of packaging their farm produces.

Right packaging will also attract customers and markets, he added.
