In the series of kidnapping of people for ransom, suspected militants taken into captivity a man identified as Nehtinmang aka Mangcha Haokip son of Janglet Haokip of T Khuonu village, Senapati district even as whereabouts of the official of agriculture department is yet to trace out.
A police source said that Nehtinmang aka Mangcha Haokip who was found missing from Longa Koireng about 61 km south west of Sapermaina Police Station of Senapati district since November 18 last.
Family came to know the missing of Nehtinmang when the motorcycle (Pulser brand) he rode was found abandoned near the Longa Koireng area.
Police investigation into the case registered on receipt of the complaint lodged by the family revealed that he had been kidnapped with Rs 1,63,000 in his possession at time of abduction.
Whereabouts of the person could not be traced out by the police till date.
With regard to the kidnapping of an official of the state agriculture department, Porompat Police of Imphal east district has registered a case.
The assistant officer of Agriculture Department Chongtham Jilla alleging has been taken into captivity by KCP (MC) Chingkheiganba group.
The group while claiming the officer in their custody had also set deadline on November 18 but no development so far reported till date.
He was kidnapped on November 15 last from the way to her office.
The case was registered after the police investigated into whether he was kidnapped or not.
In the preliminary investigation, it was found that he has been kidnapped at gunpoint for ransom and is keeping confined to an unknown place.
On the other hand, protest against the kidnapping of Jilla for ransom staging at his locality Lamlai Bazar has entered second day today.
Locals are demanding non-conditional release of the local man lamenting that they were against kidnapping of people for ransom.
