Govt urged to release ex-gratia for Covid victims

The chief secretary of Manipur and the chairman of State Disaster Management Authority's state executive committee have been urged to release the Rs 50,000 ex-gratia assured for people who died due to Covid-19 as per directive given by the ministry of home affairs following an order of the Supreme Court of India.
One Keisham Pradipkumar submitted an application in this regard to the chief secretary.
In the application, the appellant mentioned about the Supreme Court verdict for paying ex-gratia to Covid-19 victims and added that so far 1905 people have died as per Covid-19 status report released by the state government on October 21 .
Pointing out that the state government has not released the ex-gratia amount till date, the appellant urged the state government to uphold the SC directive and release the amount at the earliest.
Pradipkumar also urged for releasing names of the victims eligible to get the ex-gratia through the district disaster management authority and to make the whole process simple so that the bereaved families can conveniently avail the financial assistance.
He also sought assistance from district level committees towards the bereaved families in the process.
