Pump sets distributed to fish farmers

Imphal, July 22 2020: Distribution of 15 numbers of diesel water pump sets to fish farmers of Manipur, jointly organized by ICAR - Central Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneshwar, Orissa and ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal was held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat today.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Narendra Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur while following COVID SOPs.

The Joint Director distributed the pump sets to the fish farmers who were from Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur and Imphal East districts.

While speaking at the event, Dr Prakash stated that the State needed committed farmers/entrepreneurs to come up for any venture related to aquaculture as fish farming is a lucrative occupation.

Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Senior Scientist about the potential of fish farming and fish species available in Manipur.

Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, Senior Scientist (Agri-Economics), Dr P Saraswat, Senior Scientist and head KVK, Tamenglong and Dr Deepak Singh Senior Scientist and head KVK Chandel, along with 18 fish farmers were present at the programme.
