SAACA alleges misappropriation of fund

Imphal, June 22 2020: For the purpose of improving the Inter Village Road (IVR) from Monsang Pantha to National Highway 102, an amount of Rs 20,00,000 was sanctioned by the MP (outer Manipur) for the year 2019-20 which was awarded to Special Contractor DB Kotwar, said a press statement issued by the Chairman of Sulam Area Anal Chief's Association (SAACA).

However, the statement has claimed that the said amount has been almost completely withdrawn but there is no evidence of initiating teh improvement work til date.

The statement alleged that the contractor had withdrawn Rs 1,00,00,000 last year for the year 2017-18 from the fund and about 60 per cent from the fund sanctioned for 2019-20 has also been allegedly withdrawn this year.

Expressing concern, SAACA has appealed to the concerned authority to take appropriate action, adding that the association will be compelled to take legal action/legal protests against the 'competent authority' if it fails to book the alleged culprit.
