Head Constable nabbed with contraband drugs

Imphal, August 21 2012: Four persons including a Head Constable of Manipur Police department were arrested by sleuths of Special Intelligence Unit (SIU) of Imphal West police today for illegally transporting contraband drugs worth around Rs 8 lakhs.

The seized contraband drugs included 161 kgs of Robocoff-Pseudoephedrine tablets.

According to Police reports, following specific information, sleuths of SIU were waiting at Imphal Airport when they saw four cartoons brought in a cargo plane of Jet Airways were being carried off in a white Bolero (WB02-TC505) .

The team chased the Bolero and stopped it at Kwakeithel.

The seized contraband drugs

The four persons who were inside the Bolero, namely Head Constable Md Hibjur Rahaman, s/o late Md Nur Ahmad of Sangai Yumpham, Thoubal; Md Warish,s/o Nasib Ali of Lilong Mayai Leikai; Md Samsul, s/o late Md Atul of Sangai Yumpham and Md Yusuf Khan, s/o Md Kasim of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, were subsequently taken into custody.

A case has been registered with Imphal Police Station in connection with the case.
