NEP 2020 will be a game changer: Rk Ranjan

Education (S) Department felicitated national teacher awardee, 2021 Ningmareo Shimray in a function held at Imperial Hall of Hotel Classic Grande, here on Monday.
Shimray is working as a lecturer of Mathematics at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Union Minister of State for Education and External-Affairs Dr Rk Ranjan said that National Education Policy, (NEP) 2020 is a policy for reformation of the education system in the country.
There are lot of prospects and scopes that can be expected from this new education policy.
An outlook of employability can be seen in this NEP, he added.
Further explaining on the new education policy, RK Ranjan said that it has identified various areas through which education and employment can be linked.
Due importance has also been given on vocational and skill education in schools and higher education.
The new education policy will be a game changer, he maintained.
Highlighting the roles of teachers in shaping a society, the union minister said that they should be given the highest respect.
It is unfortunate that only few teachers applied for the national and state awards given by the government annually to acknowledge their sincere works, he said, while urging the teachers to apply for such awards.
The government of India will provide benefits for overall development including infrastructure of those schools where the teachers who received national and state awards are working.
Minister Ranjan noted that the status of the teachers in the state is still low and called for improvement.
The Prime Minister is also giving thrust to improvement of the education system in the North Eastern states, he added.
Regarding the unknown martyrs who died fighting the British in the Anglo-Manipuri War, he said that lessons about the unknown martyrs will be included in the school syllabus so as to inculcate sense of patriotism among the students.
Speaking as the functional president, education minister S Rajen noted that there have been many changes made in the education sector under the present government.
The rate of enrolment in the government schools has been unexpectedly increased and necessary infrastructures developed on priority basis.
He further said that the department of education has been working relentlessly for the effective implementation of the NEP, 2020.A Task Force has also been constituted under the chairmanship of commissioner education.
Sub Task Forces have also been formed and assignments distributed, he informed.
In acknowledgement of their dedicated services, nine state teacher awardees and some selected teachers were also honoured during the function, which was also attended by education director L Nandakumar Singh as guest of honour.
