Imphal, August 20 2018:
"JNIMS Hospital has the required facility for blood test.
The Institution has been conducting the 57 free tests including the complete blood count test and blood group test", said Director of the institution Professor Th Bhimo today refuting a report published in State dailies which claimed that JNIMS has not been conducting blood tests.
Speaking to media persons at JNIMS Porompat, the Director said that according to Pathology Department's report, the institution has conducted complete blood count test and blood group test of 6662 in/out patients from August 1 to 18 .
Pathology Department alone has conducted 35,429 tests of the 57 free tests in the month of July, according to report of Head of Department of Pathology Dr Mohen, he said.
However, report from the Department of Biochemistry are not available yet, he said.
The State Government had launched the scheme under Free Service Initiative on July 1 last year providing 57 free tests.
"JNIMS has been trying its best to conduct all the 57 tests without interruption.
The reagents required in conduction of several tests are available now.
But there are times when we do not conduct the tests due to lack of reagents required," he said.
Meanwhile, family of a patient, who was admitted to JNIMS Hospital on August 14, has claimed that they were denied complete blood count test and blood group test at JNIMS.
"Our patient was admitted at JNIMS medicine ward and the doctors advised us to conduct four tests.
When we approach the counter No 8, were told that there are no facility for blood tests," he said.
"We were able to conduct only the two test (out of four) which were not blood related' tests at JNIMS," he said.
It may be mentioned that according to sources, many patients have claimed that they were forced to conduct blood test and others at private laboratories due to "lack of reagents" at JNIMS.
Patients have claimed that they were often given excuses that the test (blood) are not available due to lack of reagents.
