Sit-ins protest bomb attack at RIMS director's house

Imphal, July 20 2022:
Condemning the act of unknown persons triggering bomb explosion at the Uripok Ahanthem Leikai residence of RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh on July 18, sit-in protests were staged at Uripok Ahanthem
Leikai and in front of RIMS A-block on Wednesday even as organisations condemned the ghastly attack.
The sit-in protest held at A Block was participated by RIMS medical superintendent, dean (academic),
heads of departments, Chief Nursing Officer, officials, members of Patient Welfare Committee, Teachers' and Medical Officers' Association (TAMOA), RIMS Nurses Association (RNAL), Lamphelpat, Non-Teaching
Employees' Welfare Association (NTEWA), staff and students of RIMS.
While speaking to the media NTEWA president Dr W Ranbir Singh strongly condemned the bomb attack and appealed not to repeat the act again.
Another sit-in protest organised by Uripok Ahanthem Leikai Development organisation (UALDO) was also held at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai community hall on Wednesday.
Speaking at the protest venue, UALDO general
secretary Anoubam Arun Kumar termed as fortunate that the bomb exploded in a pond and no casualties were caused.
Had the bomb exploded at the house, there could be injuries or even worse, opined that secretary and asserted that such attacks in populated areas is unacceptable.
He also appealed to all concerned not to repeat such an act in the future.
On the other hand, Indian Medical Association (IMA)
Manipur State Branch and Association of RIMS Alumni (ARIMSA) condemned the bomb attack at the director's residence and appealed to the government to arrest the miscreants at the earliest.
