CSO leaders pledge to donate body, organs

Prominent Imas (Mother) and civil society leaders of the state pledged to donate their body organs after their demise to RIMS, Imphal.
In acknowledgement of their pledge, a simple programme was held at the Administrative Block of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Wednesday to formally handover the documents to the donors by RIMS director prof A Santa Singh in the presence of hospital medical superintendent Prof Sanjib Singh Nepram, head of Anatomy department Prof RK Ajita and officials of the institute.
A release by RIMS media advisor N Phillip Singh has informed that the organ donors include Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup president Yumlembam Memma Leima, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup general secretary Nongthombam Radhamani Leima, All Manipur Progressive Farmers Association former VP Haobam Premabati Leima, social activists Haobam Ibotombi Singh and Lourembam Chanu Somola, Manipur Peace and Integrity Council president Chungkham Romeo Singh and United People's Front president Nongthombam Rupachandra.
During the event, Memma Leima said she is 85 years old now but has not fulfilled her wish of serving the people for the betterment of Manipur and hence decided to donate her body as a whole after demise to the institute for the benefits of mankind.
Prof Santa appreciated the donors for their courage and brave act of dedication.
This is a combination of technology and humanity service, he said.
"The institute gratefully acknowledges the sense of commitment to the cause of Medical Education and salutes their brave and dedicated involvement in the field.
We pray to God, the Almighty to give them and their family members the choicest blessings for good health, long life and happiness," he added.
Further the RIMS director stated that the institute will make all necessary effort to provide free medical facilities to the donors whenever needed, added the release.
