JAC for befitting penalty

The JAC against the kidnapping of a child of Moirangkampu Sajed Awang Leikai, today, appealed the authority concerned to award befitting punishment to one Yambem Gulsan, according to the law of the land.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Yumnam Ajitkumar, general secretary of the JAC, said that on January 14, at around 4 pm, one Robert Chingkhamayum s/o Saratchandra, was kidnapped for ransom by Yambem Gulsan of the same locality, when the victim was on his way to a tuition class.
Following the kidnapping, a missing person complaint was lodged before Porompat PS and a massive search was carried out by the locals.
He claimed Ajitkumar claimed that on the next day they got information that the victim was along with the accused at Lamdan MMTA complex rest house, after which the locals went to Lamdan and rescued the victim and nabbed the accused before bringing them back to their locality at around midnight.
Soon after, the accused was handed over to Porompat PS.
He continued that the next day, a meeting was held in their locality and the local club and Meira Paibis resolved to publish the name of the accused along with his photograph in electronic and print media.
However, the local club and Meira Paibis failed to do the needful which led to the formation of the JAC, he claimed, and appealed to the authority concerned to give befitting punishment to the accused according to the law of the land.
