State logs two deaths, 16 fresh cases

Imphal, December 18 2021:
After two days of reporting zero Covid deaths, the state on Saturday reported two fatalities and 16 fresh cases out of 1462 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 0.97 per cent against 0.78 per cent recorded on Friday.
The two death cases were residents of Imphal West district, both of whom had received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The two cases took the total number of fatalities from Covid-19 in the state to 1995 .
Meanwhile, the active caseload rose to 203 out of which 50 (24.63 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availabilities in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only four reported fresh Covid cases on Saturday with Imphal West logging highest cases at 8.So far, the state has recorded 96,213 positive cases and 1621 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 408 new positive cases and 18 fatalities out of which 117 new cases and 6 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 16 new positive cases (6 male & 10 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (4) and other testing centres (12) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (6), Imphal West (8), Kakching (1) and Churachandpur (1) .
In the last 24 hours, 9 patients were discharged from home isolation (5), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (3) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,25,613 (general population - 1,21,180 and CAPF personnel - 4,433) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,415 (general population - 1,18,988 and CAPF personnel - 4,427) and number of active cases is 203 (general population - 202 and CAPF personnel - 1) .
The recovery rate is 98.25 per cent.
A total of 252 D-type and 32 B-type Oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, 4876 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered on Friday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,09,736 out of which 9,53,314 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,081), Imphal East (27,897), Thoubal (9486), Churachandpur (10,191), Kangpokpi (2788), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9231), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2998), Kakching (6450), Chandel (2365), Noney (1075), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (668), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (178), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (193), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,481 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,813 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,65,932 tests per million population against the national average of 4,73,569 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1462 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 0.97 per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.69 per cent.
