State logs 380 fresh cases, highest in 140 days

Imphal, January 18 2022:
The state on Tuesday reported 380 fresh cases of Covid-19, the highest spike in 140 days, with a daily positivity rate of 13.95 per cent.
August 31 last year recorded 382 new cases with 8.76 per cent TPR.
Despite the rising number of cases, daily test capacity still remains below 3000 as only 2724 samples were examined in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, state Common Control Room has asked air passengers, who travelled to the state on January 14 by Air India flight number AI-715 in seat no 17 to 24 and Indigo flight number 6E-6014 in seat no 13 to 31 to inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800343818 or their respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) .
No death case was reported on Tuesday and the toll stands at 2015 .
In all, 46 patients were discharged from home isolation (22), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (21) in the last 24 hours while the active caseload rose to 1791 out of which 494 (27.58 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 281 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 115 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, 13 reported fresh Covid cases on Tuesday.
So far, the state has recorded 98,473 positive cases and 1641 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 2085 new positive cases and 13 fatality.
The weekly number of new cases also rose to 1529 but the fatality figure dipped to 3.According to official reports, 372 people (190 male & 182 female) out of the 380 fresh cases are from among the general population and 8 are personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (22), JNIMS (48) and other testing centres (310) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (79 with TPR of 18.6 per cent), Imphal West (148/15.4 per cent), Thoubal (16/12.7 per cent), Bislmupur (16/13.3 per cent), Kakching (3/5.7 per cent), Kangpokpi (24/28,2 per cent), Noney (1/5.3 per cent), Ukhrul (5/7.1 per cent), Tamenglong (2/3.7 per cent), Tengnoupal (1/7.1 per cent) .
Senapati (2/1.3 percent), Chandel (2/2.9 per cent) and Churachandpur (73/26.7 per cent).
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,27,873 (general population - 1,23,132 and CAPF personnel - 4,741) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,24,067 (general population - 1,19,611 and CAPF personnel - 4,456) and number of active cases is 1791 (general population - 1512 and CAPF personnel - 279).The recovery rate has come down to 97.02 per cent.
A total of 332 D-type and 42 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 8452 vaccine doses were administered on Monday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,66,300 out of which 10,21,743 have been administered with second dose and 7922 with precautionary dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,913), Imphal East (28,386), Thoubal (9590), Churachandpur (10,474), Kangpokpi (2838), Tamenglong (3294), Bishnupur (9305), Senapati (2316), Ukhrul (3079), Kakching (6512), Chandel (2468), Noney (1100), Tengnoupal (1090), Jiribam (1050), Kamjong (994) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (676), Imphal East (483), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (45), Kakching (116), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 41,209 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 26,852 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,82,258 tests per million population against the national average of 5,03,527 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2724 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 13.95 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.55 per cent.
