Centre decides 'not to allow' admission in RIMS Dental College

The Centre is not at all likely to grant permission to RIMS to conduct the 4-year BDS Course and may instruct the institute on declining admission of students to the Dental College, RIMS, Imphal with 50 seats for the academic session 2015-16 .
Admissions made in violation of the prescribed conditions will be treated as irregular and action under section 10B of the Dentist (Amendment) Act, 1093 will be initiated, said Under Secretary to the Government of India, Satender Kumar Gupta in a letter to the Principal, Dental College, RIMS.
The letter dated July 15, 2015 said the Dental Council (DCI) of India in a letter to the Central Government recommended not to grant permit for the BDS Course and admission to the Dental College, RIMS.
As per the proviso under section 10A (4) of the Dentists (Amendment) Act, 1993, an opportunity of personal hearing was given to the Principal, Dental College, RIMS in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Dental Education Section) before the hearing Committee constituted for the purpose, the letter mentioned.
Based on the report of the Committee, the Ministry requested the Council to review or verify earlier recommendation on June 15, 2015 .
The letter further said that the Council, however, in a letter dated July 7, 2015 that since the last date for sending recommendation to the Centre was June 15, 2015 which is already over, the Executive Committee observed that the Council has already inspected the Dental College two times on May 8, 2015 and May 25, 2015 and after some discussion and deliberation decided to reiterate its earlier stand.
