The final argument hearing against the rape accused, Timothy L Changsang, the Administrator of North Eastern Children Home, Rengkai village, Churachanpur, was held before the Special
Court POCSO Imphal, today.
The rape accused Timothy L Changsang, who is presently out on bail, appeared before the Court for the final hearing in connection with the alleged sexual assault on the minor girls who were staying at North Eastern Children Home, Rengkai Village, for two years.
Today's hearing against Timothy was held after the final submission of last defense witness concluded on February 21 .
After hearing both the counsels, the Court fixed March 31, for further hearing of the case.
The case was registered by the Court on January 4 last year and the charge sheet of the case was submitted before the Court by the IO soon after.
The charge hearing against the accused was held on February 1, 7 and 16, last year and charge was framed against the accused on February 28, the same year.
The trial of the case against the rape accused started from March 23 (2017) and during the one year long trial, the Court heard and recorded the submission of 18 prosecution witnesses and 3 defense witnesses.
It may be mentioned that the matter of sexual abuse and alleged rape of minor girls staying at the North Eastern Children Home, for around two years by its Administrator, Timothy L Changsang, came to light after two minor victims lodged a written complaint to Women Police Station, Churachandpur on February 25, 2015 .
In their complaint it alleged that Timothy L Changsang had been sexually abusing and raping the girl inmates, including them, repeatedly since December 2012 .
Soon after the complaint was lodged, Timothy was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
However, after staying some time in judicial custody he was
released on bail.
